1. Is it possible to directly access data or files stored inside a virtual machine (VM) from the host operating system? If so, what are the standard methods to achieve this securely?

Yes, it is possible to access files inside a virtual machine from the host operating system. Standard methods to achieve this are using Hypervisor shared folders , Network shared folders and mounting the virtual disk.
